Slams the ground, knocking nearby units away. Closer units experience a more powerful force.

Vertical Knockback: 1750

Notes:
  • Proximity to the Earthshaker affects the strength and force of the knockback applied.
  • If the Earthshaker was the last player to possess the ball, the vertical knockback applied is increased to 2750 (and then scaled by distance). The primary reason for this is to make slam-shots possible without affecting slam force in any other situation.

Strategy

Earthshaker can use his slam ability in a multitude of ways to help his team. In particular, slam is a really useful offensive ability. Here are some ways to use Earthshaker: (Click on the titles for videos)

Launchpad:
You can use the Earthshaker's Slam as a "launchpad" for your teammates, helping them become airborne and propelled toward the enemy net for quality scoring opportunities. Launching works really well with Anti-Mage's super sprint.

Slamshot:
The Earthshaker can slam balls in front of him to try and slam them into the net (or to pass downfield). One way to do this is just by kicking the ball toward the enemy net and quickly slamming to make the ball airborne.

Slamming the defense/goalkeeper:
Probably the most common and effective way to use Slam is by just slamming the enemy goalkeeper/defense to get quality scoring chances.

Slamming as the goalkeeper:
The Earthshaker is also a really effective goalkeeper. You can use it in a multitude of ways as the goalkeeper, one of the best ways is just to slam away enemy shots.

The Earthshaker is inspired by the ent hero in Warcraft 3's Banjoball, Karma Green Inn.
Karma Green Inn (Warcraft 3 Banjoball)

Due to Dota 2 Earthshaker's fitting skillset and particle effects, he was chosen as the hero to use for the Slam ability.

Originally in Warcraft 3 Banjoball, Karma Green Inn's slam ability would detach the ball from the owner, making him especially strong as a goalkeeper. However, following the nerf that changed this feature, slam became primarily used as an offensive ability when other goalkeeping abilities outclassed it or were easier to perfect.
